The latest Galaxy is the most luxurious ever, striking a perfect balance between first-class comfort and the sharp handling characteristics that Ford is famed for. It provides spacious seating for up to seven passengers in elegant and refined surroundings.
It may be a big car, but the Galaxy is still a handsome design you’ll take pride in putting on your drive.
Ford’s familiar face and grille features at the front, and every version comes with alloy wheels, roof rails, and parking sensors to the front and rear. Upgrading to the Titanium or Titanium X trim brings rear privacy glass and automatic headlights too.
The supremely spacious interior is great for those who regularly need to carry seven adults, thanks to full-sized seats even in the third row. When you don’t need them, they fold electrically into the boot floor to create an enormous 1300-litre space. The three seats in the middle row slide individually and recline so even the tallest passengers will have enough space.
Everyone will enjoy an elevated seating position and great all-around view, which is helpful for the driver when parking and keeps the cabin feeling light and airy. It’s easy to find a comfortable seating position too.
The dashboard is a masterclass in simple elegance, with many of the functions and the infotainment system controlled by a large eight-inch HD touchscreen. Leather upholstery is fitted to top-of-the-range Titanium X versions for the ultimate in luxury.
A choice of six engines powers the Galaxy. If you prefer petrol, opt for the 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine with 158bhp or a 2.0-litre version with 237bhp – both will reach 60mph in under 10 seconds.
Or go diesel with the 2.0-litre TDCi in four power outputs – 118bhp, 148bhp, 178bhp and 207bhp. Every version revs freely and is beautifully refined, with CO2 emissions from as little as 129g/km and fuel economy of up to 57mpg.
Manual, automatic and Powershift semi-automatic gearboxes are offered, as is all-wheel drive if you need extra traction on muddy or icy roads.
Ford’s SYNC system allows you to connect your smartphone via Bluetooth, stream music and make phone calls using voice commands. You can keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road while controlling the infotainment. Titanium models add satellite navigation and cruise control to make long journeys easier, and every model includes six airbags should the worst happen.
Every Galaxy comes with climate control to keep passengers cool, even under the panoramic glass roof of Titanium X models. Lane-keep assist is standard on all but the entry-level Zetec version.
