When you need bags of space for your family plus heaps of gear and the dog, the Ford Kuga is your saviour. Named by the marque as its smartest SUV yet, it is a treat for the eyes and puts out a strong performance over tough terrain on the lengthiest of adventures.
Both petrol and diesel engines are available and each one packs a powerful output for a strong performance on difficult terrain. The petrol powertrains are 1.5-litre EcoBoost varieties, in a choice of 118bhp, 147bhp and 179bhp, the latter of which is an all-wheel drive. Two turbo charged 2.0-litre diesel variants are available in 147bhp and 177bhp. Both come as an all-wheel drive and you can opt for the front-wheel drive with the 147bhp version. The PowerShift gearbox pre-selects the next gear before you change, so you won’t lose any power as you move up a notch. A gear shift indicator tells you the optimum time to change, and the auto Start/Stop technology makes the engine even more frugal.
A tall stance and muscular body with deep-set contours define the Kuga and give it an intense look. Its high road clearance means you don’t have to worry about scraping the chassis as you ramble over rocky roads, and you benefit from a vast view, too. Twin tailpipes, a skidplate and protectors on the side skirts, wheel arches and bumper bring the sporty edge the Kuga needs to tackle all terrain. The most luxurious trim level, the Titanium X Sport, comes with silver roof rails for carrying immense gear, a rear spoiler and body-coloured side skirts, all for added sporty interest.
There are 442 litres of boot space to fill with everything your family wants to bring along on the journey, which expands to 1,928 with the seats folded. Under the floor of the boot is an extra bit of space for stowing away more items. An optional tow bar means it’s easy to take extra equipment like a caravan or a boat away with you. If you’ve got little ones, they will love gazing out of the panoramic roof which comes with the Titanium X and Titanium X Sport trim levels.

You can rely on the Kuga to get you to your destination safely. The all-wheel drive system puts the right amount of power to each wheel so they skim over bumps without losing grip. You can also opt for a rear view camera which helps you to get out of tricky spots. Then there’s the cruise control which comes with a pre-set distance monitor and will automatically slow down when you’re nearing other vehicles or hazards.
A number of optional features make driving the Kuga effortless no matter where you’re going. Integrated navigation will lead you on your choice of route, whether that’s the quickest or most eco-friendly, and it will keep you informed of the estimated time of arrival. Active Park Assist physically steers you into uncompromising spaces, while the hands-free tailgate allows you to get into the boot by simply swiping your foot under a sensor. In winter, you’ll be thankful for the Quickclear heated windscreen which will melt the ice in a matter of minutes.
Only with a test drive can you get a feel for the Kuga’s adventurer spirit. Book a time and ask the team any questions you wish by phoning us, sending an email or getting in touch via the live chat.
