Happy Birthday to the Edition 30

The Edition 30 range is coming up to one years old in the next few weeks and we felt it was a good time to look back and reflect on the designs, models and customers that have been involved in what has been another successful year for our Transit Centre.

First developed by our Commercial Sales Manager Paul Ricketts who has a wealth of experience in the industry. He brought the idea to the table to customise vans, but not with our own designs, but instead letting our customers choose exactly what they wanted to drive.

Customers have been able to choose the colour, size design of their alloy wheels, the front sports splitter and even down to the colour of the stitching on their leather seats.

The Ford Transit Custom Double Cab, a vehicle that has dominated the UK market since its release, and with that we decided this was the perfect way to start.

Now, with over 50 of these vehicles delivered to our satisfied customers we decided it was time to expand. Enter – The Ford Ranger. This one is a real head-turner, wider wheel arches, tinted windows, upgraded alloy wheels, off-roading tyres, a mean front grille, a rear load cover and black rolling sports bars make up this incredibly aggressive looking vehicle.

With the right marketing strategy we managed to increase our enquiries overnight and expand our brand awareness ten-fold. Customers from all across the UK now know and love the vehicles that are rolling out of Bridgend Ford every week.

I know what you’re thinking, where can we go from here? One word, Tourneo. The Ford Custom Tourneo is built to an already impressive specification but we wanted to make it more than that. We wanted to turn it into a sport van. Our developers got to work, measuring the different parts and requesting feedback on different designs. A few weeks passed and our first Edition 30 model was ready to show the world.

Paul Davies, General Sales Manager at Bridgend Ford was so impressed with the outcome that he purchased one straight away. He had this to say, “Being in the motor trade for the past 20 years, I am shy in saying that I have never actually owned a commercial vehicle. I have gone from a Ford Kuga to a Tourneo and I can honestly say that it drives very similar to a car which has made it a very comfortable transition. I am involved with a lot of recreational activities outside of work and this fits my needs perfectly”.
