Function and form working in perfect harmony, the Transit Connect is practical, versatile, spacious and easy on the eye.

Highlights

Peace of mind All variants feature remote central locking, which means you can walk away from the van while clicking the lock button on your key fob, safe in the knowledge that all doors are securely bolted.

Straightforward access The entry-level Trend trim features a wide-opening sliding door on the vehicle’s offside and 180-degree-opening rear doors, thus providing more ways than one to access the load bay. An additional nearside sliding door is optional – or standard with second-tier Trend trims and above (and all DCiV models).

Connect colours With nine paint finishes to choose from, you’ll have no problems selecting the one that best suits your brand identity. Frozen White and Agate Black are popular choices while the likes of Race Red, Sedona Orange and Blazer Blue offer their own kind of eye-popping appeal.

Stress-free refuelling Thanks to the presence of Ford’s Easy Fuel capless refuelling system, you need never worry about topping up the engine with the wrong kind of fuel. This is because petrol and diesel nozzles differ, which means that, for instance, a Ford Easy Fuel petrol filler won’t accept a diesel nozzle.

Comfortable cab This compact commercial vehicle’s cab provides plenty of room for the driver and co-passenger to enjoy comfortable journeys, whether long or short. The driver is provided with an adjustable seat and a rake-and-reach-adjustable steering wheel, allowing him or her to establish their ideal position.

Commendable capacity Standard-issue L1 models offer a 2.9m3 load volume while L2 iterations increase cargo capacity to 3.6m3. If you regularly transport up to five crew members, the DCiV model is the way to go, with L1 variants providing a 1.2m3 load volume, and L2 versions delivering up to 1.6m3.

Cabin convenience A centre console compartment, a glovebox, a storage box located within the van’s instrument panel and two-cup-holders ensure there are plenty of places to place personal items.

Protective bulkhead All Transit Connect models feature a bulkhead that provides a protective barrier, separating crew from cargo. In most cases, the bulkhead is fixed. However, DCiV iterations feature a moveable bulkhead that offers a range of cargo-carrying configurations.

Driving assistance Several driver aids are included as standard, such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which helps you maintain full control of the vehicle in a range of conditions. If ever the van begins to deviate from your intended trajectory, ESC autonomously initiates braking pressure and engine output to deliver an appropriate course correction.

Key component While all models offer remote-central-locking peace of mind, third-tier Limited grades and above offer the added convenience of keyless entry and start.

Music on the move Entry-level Leader trims feature a four-speaker sound system which includes DAB radio and provides AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. The latter enables you to stream content from your music library – while steering-wheel-mounted controls allow easy operation of the van’s audio features.

Infotainment upgrade Second-tier Trend grades add a 4.2-inch TFT display that comes with Voice Control functionality and enables audible text messaging. Top-tier Active trims (single-cab models only) add the likes of Ford SYNC 3 and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.

We touched on the ingenious load-through bulkhead earlier on which helps you carry items that are up to 3m long in a short wheelbase and up to 3.4m in a long wheelbase. This reduces the need for you to load items on to the roof. You won’t always need to use this, the rear of the van has room to fit two Euro-pallets in a short wheelbase (L1) or a massive four 8’ x 4’ sheets of robust materials in the long wheelbase (L2).

Safety is the number one priority from Ford and that is why they have fitted Pre-Collision Assist which analyses the road ahead for other vehicles and pedestrians. It will then warn you of potential collisions and will even apply the brakes automatically if you haven’t had the time to do so.
