When the original Ford Focus was introduced in 1998, it created a new blueprint for the modern family hatchback. Now in its third generation and better than ever, it’s no wonder it’s been the UK’s best-selling small family car for almost 20 years.
Offered in five-door hatchback and estate body styles, the Focus is a dynamic design with Ford’s trademark hexagonal grille sitting on the nose. The estate comes with practical roof bars to accentuate its practicality, perfect for busy families.
All but entry-level Style models come with stylish alloy wheels, front fog lights and chrome detailing around the windows.
The Focus is offered with six trim levels – Style, Zetec, Titanium, Titanium X, ST-Line and ST. It’s easy to find the one that best suits your family’s budget while getting everything you need, and nothing you don’t.
Whichever you go for, you’ll enjoy the smart cabin that offers split-folding rear seats and standard air conditioning to keep your passengers comfortable. The hatchback’s boot is a useful 316 litres, while the estate expands this to 476 litres.
There is a wide range of engines offered in the Focus – six petrols and three diesels in total – and automatic and Powershift semi-automatic gearboxes are available on several variants.
Choose a naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre petrol, a 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo charged three-cylinder unit or a 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine – each can be had in two different power outputs. In diesel models, there are two versions of the 1.5-litre TDCi and a 2.0-litre TDCi with 148bhp.
ECOnetic models achieve the best fuel economy (up to 83mpg) and have the lowest CO2 emissions, dropping as low as 88g/km to offer free road tax. We can talk you through all the options to find the engine that best suits your driving style and budget.
Ford safety technology has helped the Focus to earn the maximum five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP. Every Focus includes six airbags and an Electronic Stability Program as standard, with a Quickclear heated windscreen and heated mirrors coming standard on the Zetec trim and above.
Upgrading to Titanium adds Active City Stop, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights and rain-sensing windscreen wipers. The top-of-the-range Titanium X models add Active Park Assist that will park the car for you.
Whichever you opt for, you can enjoy class-leading handling that strikes a brilliant balance of fun through the corners and comfort over bumpy surfaces.
