Bridgend Ford Put The Ford Ranger Raptor To The Test!

The Ford Ranger Raptor Is More Than What It Says On Paper

You need to experience the vehicle in a real life situation to really understand and appreciate how advanced this vehicle is.

Another clever feature that separates the Ford Ranger Raptor from it's competition is the advanced Hill Decent Control.

Hill Descent Control is essentially a cruise control system that uses traction control technology with anti-lock brakes.10 This system continually adjusts braking pressure to help control slippage and maintain a constant preset speed while you are going down a steep grade. This capability helps you concentrate on steering since you don’t have to apply the brakes or downshift the transmission. On a downhill grade, Hill Descent Control can maintain a vehicle speed between 2 and 12 mph. Above 20 mph, the system remains activated, but the descent speed cannot be set until you are below 20 mph again.

Easier Loading And Unloading

The Raptor is now available with an Easy Lift tailgate. The clever design makes the tailgate of your pickup feel significantly lighter and enables you to open and close it with ease.

The load bed is the same size as the other double-cabs (1,549mm long by 1,560mm wide), but it’s nowhere near as practical. While the new suspension arrangement caters well to hostile terrain, it can’t cope with a decent load. The engineers calculated that the softer coil-springs could handle 1,008kg over the rear axle without hitting the suspension bump stops.

They decided for a payload of 758kg and a towing capacity of 2,500kg (manufacturers use 10% of the towing capacity for the pin weight as a rule of thumb). This 758kg and 250kg meets the maximum rear axle weight of 1,008kg.
